Bought a Pontoon

http://creekcompany.com/product.php?productid=16155&cat=254&page=1

Well guys and gals, I ended up buying a pontoon.  I have one coming to me like pictured above.  It should be here shortly.  Once it comes in, I will post a full review and photos of the actual boat.  The photo above is from the company's website.

  1. Cool! I guess your "two person" requirement went away... I'd like to have a two person raft or pontoon.

  2. :-)
Well, after looking at the reality of the situation, dragging around something big enough to hold both of us, plus the very real probability of having a hook in my ear when my son casts from the other end of the boat made me seriously consider the 2 person craft.

Also, I can buy 2 of these pontoons for just a little more than a decent canoe and a lot less than a 2 person yak.

So, depending on how this one works out, I'll most likely be buying a second for my son to use when we fish together.

  3. Be sure to post how you like it. I'd consider getting one. Might be nice. I'd like to know if you can actually row a ways in it or if it's more of a drift type craft.

  4. Matt,
I will post a full report once I get it on the water.

One thing that interested me about this specific model is it comes standard with a mounting point for a trolling motor. If rowing it becomes a major pain in the backside, I'll spend a few bucks on the low end Min Kota trolling motor (about $125 or so) which should get something this light around good enough for what I want to do with it.

This little boat only weighs 50 pounds so rowing shouldn't be a major problem (however, i do have my eye on a trolling motor though)
